JCHX Mining Construction Group (Botswana), a subsidiary of the Beijing-based JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd., has rapidly become a major player in Botswana’s mineral sector through its focus on high-tech underground engineering. In mid-2025, the company secured a landmark five-year contract valued at approximately $805 million to provide underground mining services at the Khoemacau Copper Mine in the Kalahari Copper Belt. This project, which involves operations at the high-grade Zone 5 area, represents JCHX’s first major entry into the Botswana market and aligns with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana.
Beyond its technical role, the company is deeply integrated into the local economy through large-scale capital investment and workforce development. To support its Botswana operations, JCHX recently partnered with Sandvik to acquire a massive 32-unit fleet of intelligent underground equipment, including automated loaders and digital monitoring systems. Committed to a “localization” strategy, JCHX has focused on transitioning the existing local workforce from previous contractors and implementing capacity-building programs for Motswana citizens. By combining international management expertise with local talent, the group aims to turn the Khoemacau project into a regional benchmark for sustainable and technologically advanced copper mining.
