From its humble beginnings in 1978, the BVI of today is a company that has grown in leaps and bounds but has not swayed from its founding strategic objectives of firstly ensuring that beef trade in Botswana continues (Botswana Beef is still being exported to the European Union) through control of strategic transboundary animal diseases as well as diseases of public health concern. Through strict adherence to international vaccine standards (OIE), having in place a sound quality management system and customer-centric approach today two thirds of all vaccines produced at BVI are exported annually to over 15 countries in Africa and the Middle East. Many of these countries have been using BVI vaccines for their National annual disease control programs for decades. BVI today has an expanded mandate that now makes it a National, Regional and Global player providing sustainable animal health solutions. BVI is proud to be leading the fight in unlocking Africa’s vast livestock potential by preventing livestock diseases that have for many years hampered growth of this sector.
